Hello from Heaven: The Top 3 Signs Spirit is Near

In my forty years as a psychic medium, the most common question I hear isn’t about the future—it’s about the people we miss. “Is he okay?” “Does she know I love her?” “Is he still with me?”

The answer, inevitably and beautifully, is yes.

We often think that when a loved one crosses over, they are gone for good. But the truth I have witnessed in all my readings is that love is energy and energy cannot be destroyed; it just changes form. The veil between our world and theirs is much thinner than you think.

Our loved ones in Spirit are constantly trying to get our attention. They want to let us know they are safe, they are at peace and they are still cheering us on. They may not be able to send a text or leave a voicemail, but they have their own ways of saying hello. You just have to know where to look.

Here are the top three signs that your loved ones are dropping in for a visit.

1. Winged Messengers: Birds and Butterflies

Have you ever been sitting quietly, thinking of someone you’ve lost, when a bright red cardinal lands on the fence? Or perhaps a butterfly seems to follow you, dancing around your head in a way that feels almost deliberate?

In many traditions, winged creatures are seen as messengers between the earth and the sky. Birds, particularly cardinals, are often associated with visitors from heaven. Their ability to soar represents the freedom of the soul released from the physical body.

Butterflies are profound symbols of transformation. They remind us that the end of one phase is simply the beginning of another, more beautiful existence. When these creatures appear, especially during moments of sadness or on significant dates, take it as a gentle tap on the shoulder. It is Spirit saying, “I am free and I am right here.”

2. Pennies from Heaven: Finding Coins

My mother used to say, “Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck.” But in the spirit world, finding coins is often more about connection than currency.

Finding a coin—a penny, a dime, or a quarter—in an unexpected place is a classic sign. Maybe you find a shiny penny on a freshly vacuumed carpet, or a dime sitting directly on your car seat.

It is a small, tangible object that Spirit can manipulate to get your attention. I often tell my clients to look at the date on the coin. Does it hold significance? Is it a birth year or an anniversary? Even if the date is random, the message is the same: You are valued and your connection is still real.

3. Rainbows: The Bridge Between Worlds

There is nothing quite as breathtaking as a rainbow appearing after a storm. While we know the science of light and water, the spiritual symbolism is undeniable.

Rainbows are bridges. They connect the earth to the heavens. Seeing a rainbow, especially when there hasn’t been rain, or seeing a double rainbow on a difficult day, is a powerful validation from the Other Side. It is a symbol of hope and a promise that the storm has passed for your loved one. They are basking in the light and they are beaming that beauty back down to you.

Trust the Connection

The next time you see a butterfly linger a little too long, find a dime in your shoe, or look up to see a splash of color in the sky, do not brush it off as a coincidence. Pause. Take a breath.

Feel the love that is being sent your way. Say a quiet “hello” back. The conversation hasn’t ended; it has just changed language.

From my heart here in New Orleans to yours: follow your bliss, let spirit lead you and know that you are loved.
